OCAP Essentials is the cable industry's only 2-day technical examination of OCAP middleware, applications, OpenCable host devices, and network requirements. Taught by enableTV’s OCAP experts, OCAP Essentials delivers the technical instruction you need to sharpen your understanding of the OCAP platform. OCAP Developer's Workshop

OCAP Developer's Workshop is the industry's only 5-day, hands-on introduction to OCAP application development. Taught by enableTV’s OCAP experts, the OCAP Developer's Workshop walks you through how to develop OCAP applications and run them on an OpenCable-compliant device. Course topics and lab exercises cover the following:

• Xlet design and application components
• Graphics, Media, and Events
• Services and Service Selection
• Files and Storage
• Inter-Xlet Communication
• Monitor Application interaction

Attendee Requirements:  1-2 years of Java programming experience is required. Knowledge of digital TV, interactive applications, and OCAP is helpful, but not required.

Attendee Requirements:  1-2 years of Java programming experience is required as is previous attendance at an OCAP Developer’s Workshop.

Java for Interactive Television (New!!)

Java for Interactive Television is a 5-day, fast-paced workshop for experienced programmers new to the Java programming language. In this hands-on course, you will learn the fundamentals of object-oriented programming in Java with an iTV-specific focus, concentrating on developing applications in a resource-constrained environment with the OCAP APIs.  Through lectures and lab exercises, you will learn:

• The Fundamentals of the Java Language
• Java Application Design and Best Practices
• Principles of Object-Oriented Programming
• Application Optimization Techniques
• Graphics and Events
• File I/O and Networking APIs
• OCAP-specific APIs

Attendee Requirements:  Because this is an extremely fast-paced course, you must have experience programming in other languages. It is helpful if you have a familiarity with cable delivery and working in a cable environment. Knowledge of digital TV, interactive applications, and OCAP is helpful, but not required.
