We ( www.oedn.net ) have received a number of requests from folks looking for a ETV/EBIF plugin for Eclipse.

The idea is for a plugin that allows for early prototyping of Interactive TV Applications without use of a STB or Network (similar to the Aptana plugin for the iphone - http://www.aptana.com/iphone

Does anyone know of such a tool available or in development for ETV?

We're well aware that you can only push development so far with such a tool, but it would provide a head-start and lower one of the initial barriers to entry for new developers considering the option of developing apps for Interactive Television.

Thanks-

Will

There are commercial tools available in the market.

Tools:
* TVWorks XDK
* Ensequence OnQ authoring tool

Will,

The TVWorks XDK tool is built on top of Eclipse. It's not plugin, but anyone familar with Eclipse should feel comfortable with the development environment. It also includes an emulator, allowing EBIF applications to be tested on a PC.

Noticed a need for more information on API / SDK to incentivize developers and more innovation.
I am willing to dedicate resources and create an open-source API based upon the CableLabs specs...
